The Cooperative has arguably been Trinidad and Tobago's leading cocoa bean exporter since its formation in 2010. From that time, most of the cooperative beans (>90%) have been exported to premium artisan chocolatiers in Switzerland and Belgium..
In 2017 MCFCSL was instrumental in securing a Geographic Indication for chocolate in the Montserrat Hills Region, highlighting the inimitable and coveted flavour and quality of beans from the region. The beans produced by MCFCSL have over time become some of the world’s most expensive fermented cocoa beans, on a pound for pound basis, owing to the immense natural advantage of the region.
